theherbguy's JournalTuesday, February 7, 20068:13PM - Part time workIn my never ending search for part time work with decent pay and flexible hours I have discovered a couple gigs that seem O.K. along with a lot that seem like B.S. The two that seem to have the most promise are U.S. census worker and Sub. teacher for A.I.S.D. The census job will only last 3 or 4 months but pays 16 dollars an hour if you score good on the test. You have to work at least 20 hours a week and no more than 40.Plus it's a government job so your not going to get too overworked. They have to hire a ton of people so it seems fairly easy to get hired. The other job as a sub. teacher appears to be pretty good due to the fact that you don't have to work evenings and weekends which is often required with part time work. The pay is not bad either. After 30 days you get a 20 dollar a day raise and then another 20 dollar bump after 60 days.Your base pay to start is between 70 and 80 dollars a day depending on how much education you have and if you have a teaching degree. You also do not have to work on days that you have something else going on. Just a thought.Feel free to enlighten me if you know of anything worthwhile that they have been paid hundreds of millions of dollars to do. Current mood: Friday, January 27, 20069:55AM - It is in the fats.Due to the research I have been doing I am now throughly covinced that most of society is not consuming the right fats. The body thrives on quality fats and without them some pretty horrible things start to happen. The insulin receptors are affected(gunked up)by poor quality fat and can not regulate insulin. The affected person then deals with blood sugar instability.Blood sugar instability can cause the person to develope a fixation on food, constantly massaging endless ideas about things they can eat and often overeating. This usually ends up as weight gain that is especially stubborn to take off.Eventually heart problems(circ. issues) creep in and all the other things that go along with Pre diabetic and diabetic conditions. However, the issue about all this that really alarms me is that so many people are all over live journal looking for antidepressants and Dr.'s that will prescribe them.I know some of these people(probably 5 to 20 percent) could probably use these meds.40percent should find a good Chinese Herbalist and take Liver, Heart or Kidney/Adrenal herbs. Finally the other 40percent should start consuming decent fat and complex carbs that break down slowly. This will stabilize blood sugar so the person feels more grounded and in control;when your blood sugar is all over the place you often end up making poor choices about how to handle situations.I.E. over-reacting,fueding with people over stupid things, refusal to hear others, inappropriate irritability and many more.Often blood sugar problems are an indirect or direct reason people get on these meds.(indirect because people with blood sugar imbalances are often viewed by others as difficult or unpredictable, this makes it more challenging to maintain relationships that last. Quality fats come from foods that do not contain transfatty acids/hydrogenated fat. This society has these hydrogenated fats hidden everywhere thanks to the greed that consumes the food industry.Fish oil capsules should be in everyones cabinent. The omega 3 fatty acids are imperative and not found in many foods that are affordable. 3000mgs 3x is not too high of a dose for those who are overweight.Regular high doses almost always yield weight loss. Current mood: Current music: none Thursday, January 26, 20066:26PM - Book club?Anything?I have been reading some pretty good philosophy books lately.A lot of Ken Wilbur amoung others. Is anyone interested in discussing particular books in a casual atmosphere like a coffee house or somewhere. If there is enough interest we could even have scheduled meetings and all get to choose books. We could even do some fiction if desired.I have been sort of bored and really need to get out more but I just can't handle the whole "get trashed" seen like I used to.I just don't bounce back like I did 15 years ago.I'm just looking for cool ideas that don't involve"LARGE" quantities of booze or being around really drunk people.Any ideas? Let me know. Jason Current mood: Current music: Bjork Wednesday, January 25, 200612:15PM - What Next? Now the media is distorting Omega 3's.There is a story all over the wire about how they do not protect against cancer.I find the sources of the info suspect{AMA of course}. But the media should be ashamed for focusing on this percieved setback.Omega 3's in any form are some of the most potent antiinflammatory substances ever discovered. This equals heart health in a bigggggggg way! So the testing for cancer benefit is shady.Cancer is a lingering disease in which billions and billions of dollars can be made as the person hangs on for months and sometimes years.Several valid attempts have been made by people who actually had discoveries that showed lots of promise only to be squashed and banned by the corporation known as big medicine. You see, billions of dollars would be lost in cancer care(the lingering aspect) if anyone came up with a way to deal with it differently than the half assed excuse for treatment that currently exists. I am still dealing with a diverse array of patients but am looking to expand into the longevity and life extension arena. It suddenly dawned on me that I have read and studied every book written on the subject of longevity using Asian techniques. It started as a hobby, but with the aging baby boomers dealing with getting older,I have many skills that could easily keep them around longer.I am looking forward to bumping into everyone in a manner that the universe sees fit.My email is cullen78704@yahoo.com or 512 779 8296 . If anyone knows of someone that might want to hear my findings on the subject of longevity[or anything else for that matter] I give free consultations to those interested.Have a wonderful holiday season and hope to bump into sooner rather than later. Yes, its true, good ole boring green tea is your key.Although it is often taboo for older chinese doctors to discuss counter measures to vices such as smoking,if you hang around them long enough, sometimes you become privy to a little treasure. Its common knowledge to them, but don't try and corner one and get them to admit it,because they probably won't. P.S. You have to drink a lot of it.So let it steep a while to bring down the caffeine content or you'll get pretty geeked. Be happy,Jason Current mood: working Monday, June 20, 20054:46PM - First Thoughts...Hello, welcome to Jason’s live journal. This is the first entry and I am glad you found your way over here. This live journal will hopefully be thought provoking to most of you. I’m not some kind of bad-ass teacher or anything but I do live life to its fullest. I make many mistakes but try and learn from them. That’s the interesting thing about this journal; you’ll hear the good and the bad and the stupid and the insane and the hip and the square and the gut wrenching and the glorious. That’s because a couple of years ago I learned that in order to truly make any spiritual headway on this planet you can’t lie to yourself. It’s one of the most counter-productive things a person can do. Most adults lie to themselves on a very regular basis in an attempt to escape pain. This only makes matters worse. It’s equivalent to putting shrimp peelings in your pantry instead of sending them out to the curb. It’s going to get stinky. In my life things started looking up for me when I started meeting problems, fears and insecurities HEAD ON. Deal with the pain and discomfort. Then you can let it go. And don’t even think about beating yourself up about it. Pleasant journeys, Jason Current mood: |
